Day 1

Departure from Panama City after breakfast on a 50 minute airplane ride to Sambu, Darien.   Upon arrival we will have lunch and make camp at Sambu Camp.  We will have a short visit of the Embera Indian village of Puerto Indio.  Puerto Indio is the capital of the indigenous reserve.  After diner, we will have a short trek through the jungle to experience the jungle at night. Overnight in “hospedaje” (L,D)

Day 2

After breakfast, we will depart towards the Indian village of Via Keresia on foot.  This hike is relatively easy.  We will have lunch in the village.  By the end of the afternoon, we will visit the village and as dusk approaches, we will have the opportunity to see the local crafts and dances. Diner and overnight in Embera house in the village (B, L, D).

Day 3

Shortly after breakfast, we will start our hike into the jungle with our Indian guide.  This is the best way to discover Darien’s ample flora and fauna.  We will eat lunch back at the village.  In the afternoon, we will join our guides at the Sambu River and enjoy a fun afternoon riding a wooden raft.  Diner and overnight in hospedaje (B, L, D).

Day 4

After breakfast we will join a group of local cowboys to observe farm life in Darien.  We will the head out towards Sambu and await our plane ride back to Panama at 12:00 PM (B, L)
